Your trusted Fire Safety and Disability Access compliance specialists
Fire-access.co.uk was established by Paul Wanless, a former Fire and Rescue Service senior manager with 25 years’ experience working within the UK Fire and Rescue Service, including experience of managing community fire safety and legislative fire safety performance.
As an emergency services manager Paul gained the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety qualification and spent a number of years as the Health, Safety and Risk Information Manager for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service. He also specialised in the management of emergency incidents involving chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) materials, giving him a unique insight into the issues associated with the management of hazardous materials. Paul completed a Masters Degree in Enterprise Management at Durham University in 2009, giving him a deep understanding of advanced business management processes and the challenges faced by business enterprises across the UK and beyond.
Following retirement from the Fire and Rescue Service, Paul worked as a consultant for a Health and Safety Consultancy which specialised in providing health & safety and safeguarding advice to the education sector and businesses across the north of England. As well as providing general health and safety advice to clients. Paul specialised in providing Fire Risk Assessments to help clients comply with relevant Fire Safety Legislation. Paul holds the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety and is an associate member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) and a Registered Fire Risk Assessor on the IFSM Tiered Fire Risk Assessors Register. Paul has also undertaken specialist training to enable him to provide Access Audits for a wide range of clients ranging from small retail premises to large football stadia, to support their compliance with the Equality Act 2010.
